I know harsh but seriously this kid in one of Olive's little gym classes is such a little jerk. Like full on bully. I'm guessing she is a bit older than Olive by a few months but holy shit is this kid mean. The last few classes I've watched her be a jerk to Olive, not just Olive but other kids in the class too. I usually just pull Olive away from the situation as the mom is never watching. I know toddlers have their moments. Olive is no angel but she isn't a mean kid. She will occasionally steal a toy from a kid or do whatever toddlers do best but 99% of the time I am there to tell her to apologize or to explain to her what she did wrong. I'm not super mom by any means but it's my job to be there and try and correct bad behavior.
So back to this kid in class. Last week they were playing with balls and Olive had one in her hands and the bully came out of nowhere and grabbed the ball out of Olive's hand. I kid you not Olive screamed at the top of her lungs "NOOOO TAKING." The little shit dropped that ball so fast and I just stood there not sure if I should laugh or grab her. She used her words just like she should. Later I explained to her how it was mean that the girl took her ball and bla bla bla. I felt proud how she handled herself. Today pushed me over the edge. Again Olive was playing with some pad things and the girl straight up walked up and grabbed them from her. The mom again wasn't paying attention. Normally I would tell Olive to share but this kid grabbed and was mean. Olive just looked at me and because I wasn't about to grab them back from a 2 year old I had to explain to Olive that it was ok and some kids are just mean. Obviously not a big deal but the fact that the mom wasn't there to help control her kid pissed me off. I blew it off, I mean this is normal toddler stuff but then the kid hit Olive and I was pissed. The little shit was on one of the bars and Olive climbed up next to her and the girl freaked out and started hitting her over and over. I ran over and grabbed Olive and sat her down and again had to explain to her that people are just assholes. The mom had her back turned of course and I'm so pissed I didn't say anything. I'm not confrontational at all like not one bit but it's been bothering me all night. The kid hit my kid and not like a silly push but like actually hit her. I feel like I failed. But what do you do in this situation? I am promising myself that next class I will speak up to the mom even if it takes everything in me. I mean if she isn't going to parent her kid then I will and I have a mouth a sailor so it's not going to be pretty.
As much as I want Olive to be polite and respectful I want her to speak up and defend herself. Obviously this is a silly situation but even so I couldn't stick up for me kid and I feel like I kinda failed. Big changes people............

preschool
Today we got out of the house and it was lovely. Being sick and cooped up was getting pretty annoying. Luckily we were snot and germ free so we joined Katie and Kylie and a bunch of her friends at Pretend City. It's been really fun hanging out with these girls and I feel pretty special to be asked to tag along as they are all good friends and I'm kinda this new girl. But they are just so sweet and adore Olive and we seriously have the best time. I always feel good after I hang with them which is a good sign they are good people. Pretend City is a bit overwhelming but I think the kids like and they can touch everything and its cool to just let them explore. Olive and Kylie kinda stuck together the whole time as they usually do on outings. They are pretty much the same person which is hysterical. They giggle and explore like champs together. The rest of the girls are a bit younger so they tend to stick to one area for a bit longer and not race around like Olive and Kylie. It's fun to see all the little personalities and see what kinda little people they will become.
So while we were watching the kids play someone started talking about preschool and apparently all the ladies are already on waiting lists for multiple schools. I feel so behind! I am so glad they said something cause it totally reminded me that I need to get my ass into gear and check some places out. I keep thinking preschool is far away but realistically I would probably put in Olive around 3 years old which is now less than a year away. Obviously all the good places will have waits. I had a major moment of anxiety. I'm a get shit done kinda girl so you can bet when I came home and Olive was sleeping I went on full research mode. I have one appointment set for tuesday and then 3 other emails I am waiting to hear back from. I get really anxious with this stuff like and now I will be thinking about it till I get something done. Hoping one of these four places is a good fit and has space and is affordable. Oh did I mention I totally got all teared up when I was looking at the websites. Imaging myself dropping her off and leaving her somewhere for a few hours that isn't family. Super big girl style. Geez it's just too much.

sick house
Olive and I caught the sick and it's been a rough two days around these parts. I finally feel human again minus a sinus headache that hasn't gone away in two days. Usually one of us gets sick first and we slowly spread it throughout the house but this time we both woke up monday morning just plain sick. Staying home for two days has been nuts and the days have been looooooonnnnnggg! Monday I was useless, I felt sicker than I have in years. Olive didn't slow down and was still in her go go go mode so it was sure hard to keep up. I was hoping she would just sit through a few movies or tv shows so we could rest but that wasn't really the case. She wanted to play all day. I didn't think I could do it but somehow we managed. Today was a little better and we managed to get out the house and go on 3 separate walks around the neighborhood. She kept asking me to go to the park and I felt awful for telling her no. During the day I told her to drink water cause it would help her feel better. She finally caught on and would grab her water run up to me and tell me she was drinking water and was all better so she could go to the park. Smart kid but I'm not a germ spreader. We did make an apple pie from scratch today which was kinda awesome. Olive mostly ate the dough and apples but she was pretty excited to help. I'm hoping tomorrow we will be all better and able to join the real world and get some stuff done.
On a totally random unrelated note I'm so excited all my favorite shows are back on. Sons of Anarchy, Dexter, and Homeland. So so good! In all honesty I'm waiting for Pretty Little Liars to come back on. They are doing a Halloween special then I don't know when it will come back on after that. It is so so good. If you are looking for a mindless guilty pleasure then it's the show for you.
