this kid of mine

I've been shooting a ton of videos on vine. I tend not to shoot as much video since I'm always snapping photos but this has made me make more videos which I just love. I added one above me and I'm hoping it will work so we shall see, if not I will have to figure out another way. Was just being lazy and didn't want to upload to youtube first.

I think this is day 3 of blogging and in a row. It's a miracle but I'm sure I will go on another hiatus soon so I will enjoy these spurts of blogging energy for now. We had such a wonderful and much needed day today after the kinda downer yesterday. We met up with my friend Natalie, her husband and their two kids for a whole day of Easter Adventures. We seriously did like 10 different activities all Easter related and it was a really good time. The weather was a little chilly but it kept the crowds to a minimum which was really nice. Once we got home Olive took a really good nap and we lounged around and watched Wreck it Ralph for a bit. Hoping that movie will replace Tangled. If I have to watch that again I will go insane.  Had a quick skateboard session and made some soup for dinner. It was pretty good.

Today I was just thinking about how Olive's age is just so damn amazing. I mean we have those days where I seriously hate the age two but for the most part I can honestly say this last month or two has been the best. I think with her talking like a real human and saying the funniest stuff to me I just can't get enough. Tonight she was talking to our dog just saying the funniest stuff and Blake and I were just cracking up and I realized I have never laughed so much with her as I have the last few months. The other day we were getting out of the car to go to the bounce house and we were just talking about all the fun stuff that is inside and she got really excited and started telling me that she was big enough to go down all the slides. Then she grabs me and gives me the biggest hug and says "thank you momma for feeding me dinner so I'm big and strong for the bounce houses." I think you had to be there to see the humor but she was so sincere and thoughtful and excited. Thats kinda been her new thing to stop and thank me for something super random. Like when she sees that I washed her favorite princess dress she will run over and thank me but because she uses full sentences and describes everything its hysterial. She is also super into complementing. I crawled into her bed the other night and she kept telling me she liked my pants, then my shirt, then my hair. The other day I got out of the shower and she told me she liked my boobs. Hysterical. She has been telling me that I am her best friend and she loves me all the time. I die a little each time. I mean really, its the most adorable thing ever. She repeats a lot from tv shows which has been really positive for her as its super cute stuff. I just feel like this age has been so awesome for her. I wish I could just make a video of her entire day so I will remember everything but hopefully I will catch a few things on video that will make her laugh a few years down the road.

stupid hippy

Warning, I'm about to rant and bitch about some seriously stupid shit so prepare yourself.........
Some days just start off kinda shitty. I don't like to be a total downer but this morning just sucked balls. I had an awful dream and it woke me up so I spent most of the early morning staring at the ceiling and getting angry over stupid shit that was bugging me. You know when stupid little thoughts just take over and you dwell on every little thing? Ya that was me. I started getting all pissy over some shit Blake is dealing with at work. Obviously its not my deal but of course because I love him and he is financially responsible for this family so I get emotionally involved. Plus since we both worked in the photo industry I think we can talk about work stuff and I can have an understanding without being clueless. Obviously I think my husband is amazing and talented but I just think he deserves a better job and to work with people that respect him and his skills. Um and not to mention a fat much deserved raise. I know every job has bullshit involved but I think because I am so over emotional and pregnant I'm getting upset and taking everything to heart so much more. Sometimes the world just isn't fair ya know. Then since I was laying in bed not sleeping I went on facebook cause usually if I stare at the screen long enough my eyes get tired. I started reading these questions that are sent in from a local baby store. I love the store but some of the moms seriously anger me. Again probably the hormones. I try not to judge anyones parenting especially as I've seen that we all do things we say we will never do and knowing how different each kid is makes each situation different. BUT holy shit some of these moms need to a swift kick in their vaginas for real. So they post these questions and they are something along the lines of "i have an 18 month old who has had a fever of 105 all week and is throwing up blood and wont stop coughing and can't breathe but I don't want to give them any drugs or take them to the dr. I've been letting them lick lemons and drink tea but nothing is working. Anyone have any natural suggestions to help my baby."
Ok so maybe a bit exaggerated but I swear these people are almost crossing the lines into child abuse. Now I'm super cautious about giving Olive meds but for the love of god if your kid is suffering help them. A dose of tylenol won't kill them and shit take them to a dr. So ya this is where I get judgy. I respect doing things nautally. Like I said I can count on one hand where I've given Olive any meds but but come on people. I know I can't be the only one reading these things and wondering what the hell is wrong with these people.
So back to the morning. Olive was up at 5:22 which just sucked since I had already been up for hours before that. I was already grumpy. Luckily a little after 6 Blake took her out to watch tv while I lay in bed for like 10 more min. So Olive storms in with her milk (in a cup) and her owl and who the hell knows what else she has and throws it on my nightstand. She got into bed and wanted to watch the ipad which was fine. She asked for her milk and while usually she is totally capable of holding a cup and handing it back she decided to just toss it back to me and it went everywhere on my ipad and all over my bed and pillows. If it was water I wouldn't have cared but it was everywhere. Like I fully had to strip my bed and wash all my pillows which was just one more thing I didn't want to do today. Ummm and to dry my stupid pillows took 6 plus hours in the dryer. Really energy efficent. Normally I would have been whatever, an excuse to wash my bedding but I had just changed my sheets. I know first world problems right. Plus the rest of my house looks like its been robbed. Its a sticky gross mess and I have no energy to clean it.
The day did get better. Olive had dance and that was fine. After I decided to take her to a bounce house cause I had no energy to play with her at home. I know terrible mom but whatever. So I let her run around there for an hour and burn off any possible energy she had. Between the time we got home for lunch and when Blake got home there were a lot of meltdowns but I'm sure it was because she was so tired. Just one of those days. We really haven't had a bad one in the longest time so I guess we were due. I also know I was overly tired and sensitive to everything. Hoping this weekend will be good and I will get back to feeling normal.

MIA

Nights have been a bit too exhausting these days to get on the computer at night. As soon as Olive is in bed I plop myself on my couch like a lazy bum and it's lovely. I do have energy during the day so we keep pretty busy but by about 4pm I'm done for.

We had the most wonderful day today at California Adventures with Blake's cousin Becky and her two little ones. Dane and Olive are about 3 months apart and they are at an awesome age to play. They got along so well and seemed to have so much fun together. It helps that they have a very similar fun, sweet, and adventurous personality. I used to always complain how wild Olive was but I'm realizing its just a busy personality and the more and more I see her with other kids I realize that is the thing I love the most about her. The day was just easy and fun. Becky and I never really get the chance to hang at family events since its pretty hectic with a lot of people so this was so nice to actually talk (as much as you can with toddlers keeping you on edge) I hope there are many more adventures for Dane and Olive soon!

We're still in a bit of a sleeping funk around here. It's been a pretty long and rough run but I'm hopeful its getting better. Olive has been fighting sleep pretty hard with some nights being REALLY difficult. I think after months were finally getting to a better place. Getting her to sleep takes a little more time these days and I'm fine with that as long as she goes to sleep. She was busting out of her room and refusing her bed for awhile so the fact she stays in her room now is good. We got her one of those lights that turn green when its ok to wake up and while most people told me it took their kids 3 days to adjust it took Olive about a month. She has been pretty good about staying in bed and playing if she gets up earlier than her owl. We found that putting her leap pad in her room helps her. I felt weird doing that but I'm learning to kinda let go of any of those things. If it works for my kid then so be it. These days 30 min of extra sleep are worth anything. Another new request is she has to have to door open. I'm guessing maybe the dark has started to scare her. I think the longer you parent the more you realize that you kinda just have to make whatever work and that can mean so many different ways. I think when Olive was first born I wanted to follow so strongly into this attachment parenting lifestlye. In my head and a perfect world it made sense to me but in reality nothing in parenting fits into a package like that at least in my experience. I mean I'm sure tons of parents can follow certain parenting styles to a t but for me it just didn't work. I think this might be why parenting a second child will be so different or at least I think so. He could be so different and throw me off but I guess my point is I've learned you just kinda have to roll with things and not everything will fit into a mold. Gosh after 3 years I may finally be getting this parenting thing. Just in time to have another that will be polar opposite I'm sure!

We had a few fun adventures last week as Blake took a few days off work to make up for some weekend work. It was seriously so much fun and so nice to have Blake around during the week. We ended up going to Palm Springs for a quickie 24 hour vacation which was perfect. It was so nice to get away even if it was a short time. The weather still isn't super hot but we managed to hang poolside and spend some good family time. Olive had a blast and it was good to know this was something easy to do (if only we had money to do this all the time) The rest of his time off was spent around town on little adventures and we even had some time to plant a garden in the backyard. Seriously spring hurry up!
