pee

It will probably be a while till I post again as we are pretty busy this whole week and weekend and I'm hoping we will do something fun for labor day. The weather hasn't cooled down so I'm guessing there will some beach days this week. So I think we are almost half way there with potty training meaning I am ready to try having her go diaper-less outside the house. She has been so good this whole week with pee and poop when we are home so I think it's time to try and try it outside the house. I'm a little nervous but I guess worst case she pees and we change clothes right?

Her vocabulary seems to get better everyday and she adds more and more words all the time. It's so fun to be able to talk with her and have her tell me things. Thanks to my mom showing her the game of memory its her new favorite thing ever. We sit on the ground and I line up about 12 cards and she matches them. It's kinda the cutest thing ever. She is over coloring for now but really into playdough but everything is in very short amounts of time. Toddler patience is in the negatives or at least my toddlers is.  My friend told me that her daughter will only color for 20 min then moves on. I almost peed myself, Olive has never done anything for 20 min except sleep. Besides the matching game she spends a lot of time cleaning. I know it sounds crazy but she asks me for the sponge and then she goes in the backyard and wipes down all her cars and slide. Sometimes my windows which is not that awesome but she loves it. Weird right? We've also been spending a lot of time playing dress up. She is so shoe obsessed. My mom got her a bunch of those plastic dress up shoes and she almost lost it she was saw them. She has become so girly and wants to change her clothes like a million times a day. That or be nakey as she calls it. We keep pretty busy these days, that's for sure.

So a few of my friends have asked me if I know what I'm getting Olive for her birthday. Honestly I hadn't even thought too much about it. She is so spoiled having two sets of grandparents that buy her everything that she really doesn't need anything. Like I said before playing with a sponge is one of her favorite things ever and I feel like my house is filling up with so much shit which most of she could care less about.  BUT my friend did suggest something like this and I think she would love it. She has a tricycle but sadly her little legs don't quite reach the pedals. I'm all about having bikes and things to keep her active and I think she might be able to figure this out. Maybe??

Also I think I want to take her to see Fresh Beat Band live. At first the idea of it made me die a little inside but she really loves the show and is OBSESSED with Kiki. Tickets are stupid expensive which makes me really appreciate my parents for taking me to all my silly concerts like New Kids on the Block and Debbie Gibson. Just wonder if she would sit through this like she did the rodeo?

pink cake

Today was a day for cupcakes or as Olive requested pink cake. We happened to go down the cake isle at target and she got so excited so I let her pick out a box of cake and frosting. She found everything pink of course. The entire day she kept asking me if we can make the cake and as soon as she woke up from her nap cake was the first word I heard. It was pretty fun and I've been waiting a long time to have a little baking assistant. She was a champ at pouring all the ingredients in but waiting for them to bake is another story. After dinner I gave her 3 cupcakes and a bowl of frosting and told her she could do whatever she wanted with it. I showed her how to frost and I'm not kidding, she was good. Like full concentration trying to put the frosting on. She decided to lick some of the frosting of all of them but didn't have any interest in taking a bite. Who are you kid??? Either way she was entertained and I'm sure it's for the best as she only consumed a tiny bit of sugar. Regardless it was a fun little toddler activity. I rarely if ever bake out of a box but I think I will wait a few years to teach her how to make homemade cake but I really can't wait.

We had little gym in the morning and it was actually her last class of the summer session so now I'm trying to figure out what to do next. Continue little gym or start up with a dance class? The last month at little gym has been really fun for her and I feel like she actually gets really excited to go and as of yesterday can sing the songs we sing in class. Well one or two words but she can hum along and play along with all the beats. She is kinda in a funny age and she also has a ton more energy than most kids her age so it's tricky. What to do what to do......

it's important to look good and bring your friends with you to the potty.

locked out

After 16 years or so of having a drivers license I have never lost my keys or locked them in my car till today. I can be super flighty but I'm really good about keeping my shit in check. Toddlers change everything! This morning started off a little rough. Olive's latest is losing her mind in the morning if I don't sit and stare at her. I'm totally fine with playing all morning but she gets this idea that she wants to go on my ipad and when I tell her no she loses her mind like the world is ending. That usually sets her off and then when I try to make breakfast for myself she is so beyond pissed off that her bloody curdling cries make me think my neighbors are going to call CPS on me. It's brutal but I keep saying its just a phase. If I get a piece of toast these days I'm happy. Anyways today was just a little rough as mondays always kinda are. I barely made it to swim today because I was lagging big time and getting her dressed now usually takes a little bit of time. She wants to pick 100% of her outfit which I'm cool with but when she requires a swim diaper and a bathing suit and really wants a pink dress (as she tells me) it's tricky. I've learned ways and it's not really a big deal except when you have to be somewhere. Her regular lesson was changed to another instructor who didn't get the memo so she ended up only getting like 5 min of the lesson instead of 20min. She didn't even care or notice as she still got to play in the pool for over an hour but I was annoyed. You get where my day is going. Not bad just annoying. We had to go to the mall so I could get a friend something for her bridal shower. Mission accomplished in less than 30 min.  After that I let her wander around and play in all the fountains. I even tried on a pair of jeans but I will have to go back and really try them on. My shopping days are kinda over with her.  I've never bought expensive jeans in my life. Is $170 totally silly? I am still wearing the jeans I got about 6 years ago. Might be time to upgrade to big girl pants.

So ya after our day at the mall I locked my keys in the trunk. I always put them in my purse cause I always grab my purse to put on the front seat but I was disheveled and just threw them down. I was trying to wrangle Olive whose only goal was to run across the parking lot. I grabbed my purse and slammed the door. I screamed fuck so loud and you can bet Olive repeated that. Super mom move I know. The good news is I have AAA and they were there in 10 min. Olive was a total champ and sat on my trunk and played with her coloring book. Bad news you can't open my trunk from my car and AAA cannot open trunks. I had to stick a hook through my arm rest with the smallest flashlight and fish them out. I had totally forgot where I threw them but 20 min later I got them. I was drenched in sweat and Olive was covered in lipstick from entertaining herself. It was just an annoying day but luckily after her nap things were fine. We got an early birthday present for Olive from my mom and she was entertained for hours. A really long vent but I sure feel better. Tomorrow will have to be better that's for sure.

Luckily I'm coming off a pretty awesome weekend. We went up to my parents house for a birthday party on saturday. The party was at a farm and Olive got to ride a horse twice so she was pretty much in heaven. We went to my favorite sushi place and I got to eat and drink nice and slow since my mom was a on Olive watch. We had to head home a bit on the early side on sunday but we were able to hang out with Kat, Nick, and Sonia for a few hours before hitting the road. Bloody Mary's were drunk and babies were entertained and worn out. Such a lovely weekend.
