earthquake weather

Oh hey earthquake weather. Ok so today it felt like we were living in Hawaii. It was stormy and tropical then cold then windy. It was weird. If you live in California you know what that means when someone says earthquake weather and I'm just saying........
Fingers crossed I'm wrong but things are wacky! Olive and I didn't have any plans today as we expected it to be pouring so when the sun was shining the am I decided we needed to make a trip to the farmers market. We tested all the strawberries and Olive covered her face and outfit with red and then danced her ass off to the guitar player. We got yummy veggies in which I made a delicious vegan stew tonight. We ran a few more errands and Olive decided she would nap before lunch. I tried to wake her but she told me no and pointed to her room. Let me tell you about toddlers and their opinions. So at 11:45am Olive took a nap which made the day VERY long. Later afternoon naps break up the day but this just kinda made for a long ass afternoon. We spent the rest of the day playing in the backyard, watching elmo, and having serious coloring sessions. We face timed with my mom who got to witness Olive literally run laps around the house. I just want an ounce of her energy. Then she pointed out a spider in her kitchen but called it a bug. Sometimes I think she is just messing around but there was definitely a massive spider cruising around. So so gross. Earthquakes and spiders are so not my thing.

her first ring pop. she sat with me at the dermatologist for over an hour like a champ! they gave me a shot and she held my hand and was so concerned.

my location for mondays shoot. real bummer huh.

more pretty stormy beach.

insomnia + too much red lipstick before 9am= weird angry tired mom face.

back to get shots. she did much better this time. only a few tears.

fashion island.

she is so excited about our strawberry plant.

always gettin weird.

she has been jumping off the couch so i decided it was time to do it the safe way. also i think there is a meal on my lens which is why it's fuzzy.

dinner time usually ends in my kitchen in shambles.

hair!

this face. so much strawberry everywhere.

she loves to "surf" in the big part. probably not the safest as the looks i get could kill but she is happy and has incredible balance so whatever.

makings of a vegan stew, potatoes, shallots, purple carrots, green onions, mushrooms, and onions and a GIANT glass of wine.

no sun

The sun decided not to come out this weekend and it was actually quite chilly which kinda put a damper on the beach day. We did end up down at the beach but not actually sitting on the sand. We did a little shopping to find Blake some shoes for our friends wedding and got Olive a new bikini and booty shorts cause that is what every toddler needs! Today we took Olive on her first bike ride on the boardwalk. Getting her in the bike seat was not so easy and then trying to put a helmet on, oh my. Once she was strapped in she was so happy and loved it. I think had we gone on a really long ride she would have fallen asleep. We spent the evening at home and Olive was on quite the wild terror. She just kept testing us and testing us. Problem is she is getting really smart so she is so aware of what she is doing and how she can get a rise from us. Oh my is it exhausting. So at dinner she just pushed and pushed and she got her first time out. I kept waiting till I felt she was old enough to understand having a time out and I think we are there for sure. I sat her on a chair and just made her sit there and told her that we don't throw our plate across the room. She was upset and cried a bit but as soon as the time out was over she was back to her normal self so I'm not sure if that is good or bad. She ended up on that chair again tonight and this time she just fucked with me. She started making funny sounds with her mouth and just sat there with a giant fuck you grin on her face. Terrible twos have nothing on this 19 month old. So I'm not sure if we need to do the time out longer or what I'm supposed to do? I explained to her what she did wrong and to say sorry. Her sorry is adorable by the way. Also before you think I'm super bitch mom I know kids throw food on the ground but this was her being a total little shit about it. Um have you seen the size of my Chihuahua? But this was after I had asked her to do something and she didn't want to so she got mad and the plate and my floor suffered. But on a good note her eating the last two days has been excellent!

learning how to eat out with a toddler. must sit in a booth, she insists her shoes come off, cup of ice, water, and car keys and you can have a semi relaxing meal.

this is how i spent my saturday night. wild!

her new bikini and flip flops. summer ready.

time out.

overcast beach party

Job #3 done and one more to go! It's been fun(ny) to go from mom to photographer a few times this week. I mean working moms do it everyday but since my jobs are so random it's hard to get out of mom mode and get into photo mode. Yesterdays shoot was long and exhausting and it's been a while that I've felt that burnt after only shooting a few hours. I shot the most adorable teenager who is staring in a new abc family show. There is a good chance I will watch it since teenage sitcoms aka bad tv is kinda my guilty pleasure. She was super fun and energetic but I could have done without her 8 person entourage of publicists and whoever else was in tow. It's been awhile as I've mostly been hired for pretty low key portraits where I don't even have hair and makeup (which I prefer so much more) so this was kinda overwhelming but I survived. I finished editing tonight and now Blake is working on his retouching side job. Pretty much we know how to party on a friday night.

We had the most fun day today and I'm struggling to keep my eyes open. We had our little gym class which was awesome. Olive was in full blown maniac mode. She was jumping off everything and throwing herself on the ground doing somersaults in the middle of class. She would just start dancing and running into walls but thinking it was funny. She was wired. She was happy and not getting in anyones way so I guess I can't complain. After class we met up with some moms and babes at the beach. Sadly the sun never came out but it was fun to see everyone and baby wrangle. The weather is supposed to be amazing this weekend so it looks like we'll be at the beach enjoying it.

We've been putting Olive to bed a little later these days. She was really fighting her 7:00 bedtime so we've been pushing it till around 7:30-7:45 and she seems so much happier. She still gets up at her 6:04 or 6:08 but she seems to be fine till her nap time around 1. Her eating has been really difficult lately, she just seems totally uninterested in meals. It has nothing to do with what I'm feeding her but she just doesn't want to eat. I've had to play games with the food and physically feed her to get her to take bites. Once I get her going with a game or give her baby or Brobee bites she takes a few on her own but for the most part she would just sit there or tell me she is all done. It's crazy as she has always been a great eater but I imagine this is just one of the toddler things I'm going to have to deal with. Meals just take a bit longer these days but as long as she gets some food in I'm good. Hoping she will get over this soon. I think it's hard too cause all of my friends have no problem with their kids eating so I feel a little alone and weird. I know that's silly but with most baby stuff there is usually someone on the same page that can kinda understand so you don't feel like it's just you. I know she is healthy but since she is super skinny I want to make sure she is getting enough food.

This morning we were in Olive's room and I hear her say spider which sounds more like spid so I run over and there is a spider on the wall. I quickly grab a wipe and kill it and she looks at me and starts clapping and then signs thank you. Who is this kid?? I've never in my life killed a spider around her but she clearly did not want that thing around.

hugs.

extreme couponing is the devil

Lately my guilty pleasure has been turning on Anderson while Olive naps. The last few weeks Olive has sure kept me busy and I've had great pleasure in just crashing on the couch with Anderson. Sometimes I have guilt when I know I could be doing laundry or cleaning something then I quickly forget when my head hits the pillow and my dog cuddles next to me. So anyways last week he had on this lady who was an extreme couponer. While I'm a huge fan of coupons and saving money this lady was bat shit crazy. They did a tour of her garage which was filled with shit like litterally shitty food that will kill you. I'm gonna get all judgy cause it's fact that eating like crap is bad for you, it's not just my opinion. She opened up a fridge and the entire side had hotdogs. Does anyone need 100 packs of hotdogs???I mean lets be honest I love me a hot dog, in fact I had one yesterday at sea world and it was great but then I came home and had a delicious healthy meal with veggies. It wasn't just the hot dogs it was the chips, and other foods that can sit on the shelf for too long. Stuff that you should only consume here and there. Oh and the candy, like bins of it. It made me want to vomit. She was so proud of how they don't spend any money on food. Ummmmm when you have to get a triple bypass are you still gonna be pumped on those thousands of dollars you saved? She never once mentioned a vegetable or fruit and we all know they are not handing out coupons for produce.

I love me some good reality tv, I mean doesn't everyone but seriously I feel like these extreme couponers are just a version of hoarders. America is so gross. Come on lets stuff our garage with tons of food that is terrible for our bodies and then get on tv for not spending any money on it. It makes me sick. I mean we should all indulge in crappy food once in awhile but if it's your life I think you're gross.

Please tell me I'm not the only one that gets angry about this stuff?? Sometimes I think I'm nuts.........

hi i'm back

I kinda took a break from the blog, not on purpose but things have been crazy around these parts. We've been busy running around but I've also been fighting some shitty allergy cold thing that has made me pretty icky and bla about sitting on the computer. Blake had a few days off last week and ironically I ended up getting a few shooting jobs. It worked out great where he was able to watch Olive and take her to swim and little gym class so it was a pretty nice change for me to be the one going to a job. It was hectic but it all worked out. This week I have a few more jobs as well and it's been tricky since Blake is back at work. Luckily his mom is able to take her tomorrow until Blake can get off work and grab her. I hate putting other people out since she works as well but I am also truly thankful for the work and the help with Olive. Just gotta figure out how to go from swimming, to the shower, to lunch time, all while keeping her up past her nap in less than an hour. Fingers crossed. I'll take the stress if it means I get a paycheck.
I feel like I have a billion photos to post and I honestly can't remember what has happened in the last week or so but the photos do. And ya mostly instagram photos.......
