Elizabeth Mitchell/Ida

I was always kinda bla about kids bands but since discovering things like Yo Gabba Gabba, Raffi, and Hullabaloo I've found it can be really fun to listen to (for both of us) I think as Olive gets older and starts to sing along it will make more sense. We will always play our music for her but I'm finding that rocking her to sleep to melodic songs made for kids just work.

I mentioned in another post that I've been singing Olive to sleep for her morning nap to the Raffi station on pandora. They play Elizabeth Mitchell all the time I would always love when her songs came on. I kept trying to remind myself to look her up so I could download some of her songs but of course I forgot. Then tonight I came across this post. It's Kori from Mates of States momma blog. It was fun to come across her blog awhile back as I'm a huge fan of Mates of State. Anyways she mentioned Elizabeth Mitchell and it turns out she was from the band Ida. If you were into indie rock in the 90's then you for sure know who they are. Just funny how it all comes around. I seriously haven't listened to Ida since my boyfriend put a song on a mixed tape for me.

sunday but kinda like saturday

On Sunday we met my parents for some dim sum before they headed back home. After food we all took naps. Olive surprised us with a two hour nap so we took advantage and lounged around as well. Sometimes it's just nice to be lazy.

Liz and Brad get Married

The weekend started off with a pretty epic dinner on Friday night. My parents were coming down for the weekend for a wedding that we were all going to on Saturday so they made a little visit to our house for dinner. I made pulled pork, coleslaw, and elotes.

This was the first time Olive attended a wedding. She was a trooper as we were gone from 1:00-9:00. The ceremony took place in a church and Olive wasn't super into being quiet. In order to keep her sorta quiet it was a combination of jumping her on my lap to doing laps up and down the isles in the church. I'm sure the sound of my heels was actually more annoying than her noises. She of course decided that making spitting noises was something she needed to do when it was complete silence. She did much better at the reception which was nice and loud. She slept through most of cocktail hour and was pretty good during dinner. She is super into clapping right now so when they introduced the wedding party she was so happy to clap along with everyone. Pretty much the cutest thing ever. She sat in a high chair while we ate and did pretty good. We had a lot of help with my mom there so it made it pretty easy. When it got late we put her in pj's and took her out on the dance floor. She liked it for a little while then got super tired and passed out on me. It was a lot of fun to hang with friends and family!

Baby Mama

The other day my mom sent me a few photos of me as a little one. When you look at Olive you see mostly Blake but I think she looks a lot like some of my baby photos.

cookie dough

We just got back from the farmers market and Olive is sleeping, hopefully taking a nice long nap. I have a ton of new food to prepare for her but I think that will have to wait till tonight. We're going to try out some beets, cauliflower, broccoli, and a big ol squash. Before the farmers market we went to the back bay for a walk. It started off great and then Olive decided she wanted to scream her little head off. Poor people trying to have a peaceful walk. Nothing was wrong, she was just being difficult and wanted out of the stroller. The weather was so perfect, overcast and kinda warm but not hot. I like to pretend I live in Hawaii when the weather is like this. This is week 1 of adding in a walk/run and I'm hoping I can stick with it. I'm mostly excited cause I have on my cozy gym pants and I don't plan on taking them off. Totally going to be that person today but I could care less. Honestly I'd like to crawl on the couch in a fetal position with a bowl of macaroni and cheese, cookie dough, and a bottle of advil due to having my stupid period but I think my days of playing sick while having my period are long gone. I was wondering why I was in such a raging bitch mood and so overly tired the last few days but I guess I have my answer! Also I'm gonna get really gross for a second but I've had 2 periods since my pregnancy and both have been crazy heavy like nothing I've ever experienced before. I mean we're talking changing clothing and stuff. I know I know sorry so gross but I'm a little freaked out like it's too much. Or is my body is just making up for that year or so with no periods? Also I find that my milk supply is kinda low too. In the morning when I make Olive's rice cereal I usually tap the source (err milk myself) and it takes no time to get enough milk for the cereal but today was this insane struggle and it took forever and I was getting so annoyed. What gives?

Enough boobies and bleeding talk. Here are some videos of Olive being adorable. If you are having a bad day just watch the first video. I promise it will make you laugh.

Princess Angel Butterfly Wings

Yep I dressed Olive up as a Princess or an Angel, I dunno there was a lot of pink and a lot of lace involved. We had a play date at Natalie's today with a few friends and their kids. Two of the girls were playing dress up so I grabbed a few things and put them on Olive. She didn't seem to mind. Then she barfed on the dress. I'm not kidding. I can't make this stuff up. So her princess days were over. Anyways we had a lovely play date/lunch with friends. Olive was so good and played so well on the floor with all the toys. She wasn't too into the older kids but her and Gavin crawled and grabbed toys from each other. Olive is way more interested in interacting with adults. She kept clapping all day and showing off her new skill. When my friend Stephanie came over to greet us Olive immediately put her hands out for Stephanie to hold her. This was her first time meeting her. I wonder when Olive is going to get shy? We played on the swing set and she loved it. I think she would of stayed there all day if I didn't take her out. She even started to fall asleep in the swing but one of the kids made a loud noise and she woke up but if a swing set can help my baby nap I think I NEED one, like now.

I even took my lazy ass to kickboxing tonight. I tried to talk myself out of it all day but Blake left work early to make sure he was home in time so it gave me that motivation to go. I'm glad I did cause I feel so good although the class was full of mutants. Ever take a class or walk into a store where everyone is just standing around with their heads up their ass and you think its like the twilight zone? I swear people were like fumbling all over the place, in the way, and being annoying. Ok maybe it was 50% mutant class and 50% me pmsing. Either way it was a great workout. I won't go again till Saturday but I'm thinking about adding a running day on thursday down at the beach. Just not sure I have the right stroller for that but I think I'm gonna try it out. Thought that would be fun since we go down that way for the farmers market. Summer is coming and about a billion wedding events are happening soon so I'm feeling that pressure to drop a few pounds. I'm still not at my pre baby weight, about 7 pounds or so away. I know its such a silly small amount but I can see it. I know all the right things to do but I've just been lacking the motivation but I'm slowly getting there.

Anyways on to photos......
